Charity Sausage ("we", "us") is an app that connects charity sausage-sizzle operators, venues, and the community. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it. We aim to collect the minimum we need to run the service.
Account details: your email address and password (stored as a secure hash — we never see your password), and the role you choose (consumer, operator, or venue).
Profile details you choose to add: display or organisation name, phone number, profile photo, venue address, ABN, and contact name.
Location: with your permission, your device location is used while you're using the app to show nearby sizzles and venues, and to support card payments at events. We don't track your location in the background or store a history of your movements.
Activity in the app: bookings, events, event check-ins, and volunteer interest you submit.
Payments: card payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers never touch our systems — we store only transaction records (amount, time, event, and payment method). Operators receiving payouts provide their details directly to Stripe.
We don't sell your information. We don't show ads. We don't use your data for anything other than running Charity Sausage.
Your data is processed by a small set of providers on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payments), Google (address search via Google Places), and Resend (transactional email such as account confirmations).
We keep your information while your account is active. Transaction records may be retained as required for financial record-keeping.
You can delete your account any time from the Profile screen in the app (Profile → Delete my account). This permanently removes your account and the data associated with it. You can also email us at the address below and we'll do it for you.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or complain about how we've handled it — contact us below. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above.
